Pamela Reid, MD Dr. Reid is Therapeutic Alternatives Medical Director. Dr. Reid brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position with the agency. Dr. Reid has provided comprehensive outpatient psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatment for patients of all ages in a private practice setting. Her areas of expertise and interest include co-morbid medical and psychiatric conditions, autoimmune and neuroendocrine disorders, mood, anxiety and psychotic spectrum disorders as well as addictions and substance abuse, adjustment disorders, acute stress responses and PTSD. Dr. Reid's experience also includes psychiatric consultative work with Womack Army Medical Center's Department of Behavioral Health unit at Fort Bragg where she was part of a multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers and allied mental health professionals who provided outpatient treatment to active duty military personnel. Additionally, she has served as an attending psychiatrist at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh where she worked as the team leader on the women's long term behavioral unit at the hospital. Dr. Reid completed her Internship and Residency in Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Furman University and received her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Converse College.
Bonita H. Porter, MSW, LCSW Bonita is the clinical director overseeing the clinical operations of Therapeutic Alternatives.
Jeffrey C. McKay, MSW, LCSW
Jeff received his MSW from Louisiana State University in 1998. He has been a licensed clinical social worker in the State of North Carolina since 2000. Jeff began his career working for Lee-Harnett Area Program with the Willie M. Program. He has worked in various positions including case manager, in-home therapist, child and family therapist, adult therapist, clinical director and director of operations. Jeff has extensive experience with children and families, particularly with behavior disorders. Jeff is the Director of Crisis Services and supervises Hospital Transition Team services.
Janice Bainbridge, MSW, LCSW
Janice earned her BA in psychology at Western Carolina University and her MSW at Simmons College School of Social Work in Boston, MA. During her time in Massachusetts she worked in a variety of clinical roles in a residential treatment and school program for emotionally disturbed teenage girls. She also worked with autistic adults and persons with traumatic brain injuries in a day program, as a case manager with the geriatric population and gained experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and a day hospital for adults with mental illness. In North Carolina she resumed work with children as a case manager, as an individual and family therapist and as director of a group home. She currently provides Hospital Transition Team services in the OPC area for Therapeutic Alternatives where she enjoys using her clinical and case management skills to help pepole with multiple needs access the outpatient care and services they need to maximize their success in their homes and communities.
Rhett Brown, LCSW, LCAS-P Rhett is a school based/child & adolescent therapist with Therapeutic Alternatives serving the Chatham County area. Rhett has 12 years clinical experience working with families and children and has spent the last five years working in Chatham County. Rhett's clinical specialities include adolescents, substance abuse, spirituality, step-families, working with grandparents and kinship providers raising children and teens as well as sexual and cultural identity issues. Rhett's personal interests include running, martial arts, hiking and spending time with friends.
Mary Marshall Teer, MS, NCC, LPC-A Mary Marshall is an individual outpatient therapist in the Chatham County Clinics in Siler City and Pittsboro for Theraepeutic Alternatives. Additionally, Mary Marshall is the team lead for the Community Support Team in Chatham County. She has a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Elon University. Mary Marshall works with children and adults and her preferred theoretical orientation is rational emotive behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapeutic techniques tailored to client's individual needs.
Samantha H. Owusu, MSW, PLCSW
Samantha earned her Bachelor's Degrees in Social Work and Psychology at Appalachian State University in 2008. During her undergraduate study, Samantha began working in the area of domestic violence and encountered many survivors with mental health and substance abuse issues that went undiagnosed and untreated. As a result, she continued her education and received her MSW with a focus on mental health from the Joint Master's of Social Work Program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University. As part of her graduate studies internships, Samantha provided advocacy and conducted individual and group counseling at Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Chatham County as well as provided assessment and brief counseling services to patients and their families on Duke University Medical Center's Pediatric Cardiology Unit. Samantha works with Therapeutic Alternatives Crisis Team at Randolph Hospital.
Karen H. Owens, MSW, LCSW Karen graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. Karen attended the JMSW program with North Carolina A&T State and UNCG and received a Masters Degree in Social Work. As part of her internship experience at the JMSW program, Karen worked with the Therapeutic Alternatives Geriatric Adult Mental Health Specialty Team covering Alamance, Caswell and Rockingham counties. Karen also interned at Moses Cone Women's Hospital in Greensboro. Since graduation, Karen has worked as a social at Women's Hospital, with Therapeutic Alternatives on the Geriatric Adult Mental Health Specialty Team and is currently working wtih Therapeutic Alternatives as a clinician in our Chatham County Clinics and doing assessments in our assisted living communities.
Dave Smart, MSW, PLCSW David Smart is originally from Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. David is a graduate of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors in English and Literature. David is an alumnus of Ohio State University, where he obtained an MSW. David has experiences working with clients of all ages and races with MH/SA/DD and behavioral issues. David has been a writer, journalist, teacher, Head of Department, University Lecturer/Research Assistant, counselor/therapist and Social Worker. He has international and multicultural experiences from Africa, Asia and the United States of America. Currently, David is part of the Wake County Mobile Crisis Team and Wake County Hospital Transition Team for Therapeutic Atlernatives.
